Terrific piece. And frankly, even if you are an employee rather than a freelancer, trying a variation of this strategy could/should get you noticed (and maybe even promoted more quickly). The trick is to find a non threatening way to do it that says “yes, I’m happy to do what you ask, but can we also take a step back to make sure what you are asking for is all you need to get you what you want to achieve?”
